Introduction
As a Service Technician Apprentice, you will be responsible for executing service calls, installations, label deliveries, and cheque collections within the assigned branch’s geographical area. You will adhere to the SABS Quality Procedures daily to ensure compliance and high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities For The Service Technician Apprentice
Equipment Repairs & Service Calls: Perform equipment repairs and troubleshooting as per system logs to ensure optimal functionality.
Verification Officer: As an appointed Verification Officer, verify and seal scales according to NRCS/SABS Quality System guidelines.
Spare Parts Management: Order necessary spares through the Service Manager and resolve equipment issues promptly.
Software Installation & Setup: Install software for new equipment at customer sites, ensuring proper scale operation.
Customer Relationship Management: Maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with corporate clients to guarantee satisfaction.
Sales & Equipment Promotion: Sell labels and related equipment when possible to boost revenue and support clients’ needs.
Preventative Maintenance: Perform bi-annual preventative maintenance on all service contracted scales to minimize downtime.
Standard Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and service standard equipment as outlined by TSA (Technical Standards Agency) and other governing bodies.
Reporting & Documentation: Provide reports on completed service calls to the Branch and Helpdesk for tracking and follow-up.

Desired Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements: Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science or N3 with Mathematics and Physical Science.
Age: 18-28 years old
Driver’s License & Vehicle: A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle is required for travel.
Technical Experience: Previous technical experience in equipment maintenance, installations, or a related field is a plus.
