As a Maintenance Fitter, you will support the Maintenance Coordinator and shift-based teams in maintaining, repairing, and optimizing plant equipment. You will also contribute to the implementation and improvement of maintenance processes to uphold plant integrity and maximize operational uptime.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Maintenance

Perform corrective and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.

Maintain and repair plant machinery and associated devices to meet production goals.

Ensure consistent plant availability of 95% or higher.
Operational Support
-
Act as a technical expert, providing specialist support to shift teams during plant operations.

Assist with root cause analysis and problem-solving on equipment issues.
Planned Maintenance

Participate in maintenance planning meetings, offering insights and technical input.

Support scheduling and execution of planned maintenance activities.
Governance & Compliance
-
Stay current with legislation and best practices related to equipment and safety standards.

Ensure all maintenance work aligns with Tiger Brands’ policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks.

Address non-conformances promptly and effectively.
Risk Management
-
Contribute to the departmental risk register and assist in updating risk mitigation strategies quarterly.

Escalate and report on risk issues and assist in identifying and implementing solutions.
Reporting

Provide accurate, timely reports using approved templates in line with statutory and internal requirements.
Essential Skills & Qualifications

NTC3 (National Technical Certificate) with Matric Maths and Science.

Red Seal Trade Test Certificate – Fitter or Mechanical Artisan.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a maintenance fitter role.

At least 2 years of experience in the FMCG industry.
