The Department of Social Development (Western Cape Government) is seeking a Registry Services Clerk to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and organized individual to contribute to the efficient operation of the registry function within the department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).

Desirable:

  • A valid code B (or higher) driving license. Note: Candidates with disabilities that limit driving ability but have access to alternative transportation are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Registry Services Clerk, you will be responsible for:

  • Registry counter services: Provide assistance to clients, handle inquiries (telephone, in-person, and other communication channels).
  • Mail management: Receive, register, and process hand-delivered mail/files, sort and dispatch incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Filing and record management: Open and close files per record classification system, organize and retrieve files (electronically and manually), and maintain an organized filing system.
  • Archive and disposal processing: Digitally scan files, sort, package, and process documents for archiving and disposal.
  • Office machine operation: Manage and maintain the franking machine register, operate office machines related to registry functions.

Skills and Competencies:

  • A solid understanding of registry duties, data entry, and computer operations.
  • Familiarity with the legislative framework governing the Public Service.
  • Knowledge of storage and retrieval procedures within the registry environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to solve problems effectively.

Remuneration:

  • Salary: R 216 417 per annum (Salary Level 5).
  • Service benefits: Eligible employees receive medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, and other applicable benefits in accordance with collective agreements.
