Purpose of the Role
The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient planning, installation, maintenance, and repair/replacement of all electrical equipment, both MV (Medium Voltage) and LV (Low Voltage). This includes overseeing the operation and safety of electrical systems to maintain optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality:
Follow all safety protocols and ensure safe work practices.
Adhere to FAMP and client policies and procedures.
Report unsafe conditions and behaviors promptly.
Attend pre-shift meetings to review safety procedures.
Wear correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Electrical and Instrumentation Operations:
Implement maintenance schedules for electrical equipment.
Maintain and repair transformers, substations, and all electrical systems.
Conduct regular inspections of key electrical equipment.
Prioritize maintenance and repairs based on equipment condition.
Plan downtime for scheduled repairs and maintenance.
Perform risk assessments and studies to identify potential hazards.
Carry out electrical repairs and maintenance tasks efficiently.
Maintenance Duties For The X2 Electricians are wanted
Participate in maintenance planning meetings.
Create and manage job cards (R Cards) for maintenance tasks.
Ensure timely execution of engineering work on maintenance days.
Inspect equipment regularly to ensure it meets operational standards.
Update and maintain key system information.
Perform general maintenance, including panel replacements, sieve bend changes, panel tightening, skirting cutting, unblocking panels, and flood boxes.
Execute planned maintenance tasks to ensure the continuous performance of electrical systems.
Team Management:
Coach and assist co-workers to improve performance and safety.
Perform specialized maintenance on conveyors and fire detectors.
Conduct legal inspections and maintain logbooks.
Troubleshoot and perform fault finding on electrical systems and cable installations.
Qualifications:
Trade test certification (MQA/MERSETA) preferred.
Dual Trade certification as an Electrician and Instrument Technician/Mechanician is required.
N3 in Electrical Engineering subjects.
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
MV training and qualifications.
Experience with Siemens PLC and SCADA systems is advantageous.
