WZK Cargo Carriers Apprentice Diesel Mechanic
Fleet Maintenance is currently recruiting a Junior Diesel Mechanic / Apprentice Diesel Mechanic to join its expanding truck maintenance division based in Brackenfell, Cape Town.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates who already have practical experience working on heavy-duty diesel trucks and want to further develop their skills under the mentorship of an experienced diesel mechanic with more than 40 years of industry experience.
Successful candidates will gain valuable exposure to truck servicing, preventative maintenance, engine repairs, diagnostics, fault finding and heavy vehicle mechanical systems while working in a professional workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with:
- Servicing heavy-duty diesel trucks
- Preventative maintenance
- Engine repairs
- Gearbox repairs
- Brake system repairs
- Suspension repairs
- Driveline maintenance
- Mechanical inspections
- Diagnosing mechanical faults
- Learning advanced diesel diagnostic procedures
- Maintaining workshop cleanliness and safety
- Using workshop tools and specialised equipment safely
- Assisting with roadside breakdowns as the business expands
Minimum Requirements For WZK Cargo Carriers Apprentice Diesel Mechanic
Applicants should have:
- Minimum 2 years’ practical experience working on heavy-duty diesel trucks
- Diesel Mechanic qualification (advantageous but not compulsory)
- Qualified and non-qualified applicants are welcome to apply
- Residence within the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town or nearby
- Own reliable transport
- Willingness to work overtime and rotational shifts
- Availability to work two Saturdays per month
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence or at least a Code 14 Learner’s Licence
- Strong work ethic
- Good problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team
