The dealership provides a structured platform for developing future automotive technicians through formal apprenticeship training and hands-on workplace exposure.
As part of its ongoing skills development initiatives, Renault Fourways is offering an Apprentice Level 1 opportunity for motivated individuals who are passionate about motor vehicles and aspire to qualify as Motor Mechanic Technicians.
The Apprentice Level 1 role is designed to introduce candidates to the fundamentals of automotive repair and maintenance within a dealership workshop. Reporting to the Manager: Service, the apprentice will support qualified Technicians while undergoing a structured Apprentice Training Programme of up to three years.
The role combines practical, hands-on learning with formal technical training, enabling apprentices to progressively develop mechanical skills, workplace discipline, and technical competence in line with manufacturer and dealership standards.
The apprenticeship programme is structured to provide:
Supervised on-the-job training within a dealership workshop
Exposure to a wide range of vehicle repair and maintenance activities
Attendance of prescribed technical and apprenticeship-level training courses
Progressive skills development over a maximum period of three years
Apprentices are expected to demonstrate commitment, reliability, and a strong willingness to learn throughout the duration of the programme.
The Apprentice Level 1 will be required to assist with a variety of workshop and technical tasks under supervision, including:
Assist qualified Technicians with the repair and servicing of motor vehicles
Remove and replace vehicle parts and units as instructed
Assist with general mechanical repairs and routine servicing tasks
Jack up vehicles safely and place trestles according to workshop procedures
Lubricate components and change oils under supervision, in line with manufacturer specifications
Remove and replace wheels
Remove and fit air filters and oil filters
Remove and fit vehicle batteries
Clean parts, tools, and equipment after use
Maintain good housekeeping within the workshop
Keep tools and equipment clean, safe, and in good working order
Ensure overalls and personal protective equipment are kept clean
Maintain a clean and organised work area at all times
Follow all health and safety rules, procedures, and regulations
Attend all prescribed technical and apprenticeship-level training courses
Apply learned skills and knowledge in the workplace
Perform any other reasonable duties as required to support workshop operations
This apprenticeship provides a solid foundation for individuals seeking to qualify as Motor Mechanic Technicians. Through structured training and hands-on experience, apprentices will gradually build the skills required to perform more complex mechanical tasks.
Successful progression through the apprenticeship is dependent on performance, commitment, attendance at training courses, and adherence to dealership and safety standards.
To be considered for the Apprentice Level 1 position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science
Preference will be given to candidates with a Technical Matric
A valid Driver’s Licence will be an added advantage
Must have a clear criminal record
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
A strong interest in automotive repair and mechanical systems
Basic technical aptitude (technical skills will be advantageous)

Good customer orientation and professional behaviour
