The primary purpose of this role is to assist with electrical maintenance tasks in accordance with company standards and procedures. You will work closely with the Shift Electrician and Senior Electrician to ensure that all plant equipment operates efficiently and safely.
As an Artisan Aide, you will be involved in a variety of maintenance and repair activities. While some tasks may not require full artisan-level intervention, your role is critical in supporting the overall maintenance function and ensuring minimal downtime within the plant.
This position requires someone who is technically competent, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
In this role, you will be expected to support daily operations and maintenance activities while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
You will assist the Shift Electrician with routine maintenance and repair work on plant equipment. This includes performing minor repairs, supporting troubleshooting processes, and ensuring that all work is carried out according to established maintenance procedures.
Maintaining a safe and clean working environment is a key part of this role. You will be required to follow all Safety, Health, and Environmental standards and ensure that your workspace remains free of hazards, spillages, and obstacles at all times.
You will also play an important role in identifying and reporting equipment defects or deviations from standard operating conditions. Clear and timely communication with the Shift Electrician or Senior Electrician is essential to ensure that issues are addressed before they escalate.
In addition, you will be expected to follow all company policies, maintenance manuals, and work instructions to ensure consistency and compliance across all tasks.
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
You must have completed Grade 12 (Matric) along with a relevant Electrical Engineering qualification.
A Trade Test certificate as a qualified Electrician (Red Seal) from a recognized and approved training centre is essential.
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years post-qualification experience, preferably within an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy engineering environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and maintenance practices within a production or plant environment.
You should have the ability to perform basic fault finding and assist in diagnosing equipment issues. Experience working with plant machinery and industrial electrical systems will be highly advantageous.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a proactive mindset are important for success in this role. You should also be able to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining clear communication with supervisors and colleagues.
A strong understanding of workplace safety and compliance is essential, as this role operates within a regulated industrial environment.
