The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with maintenance, repair, and fabrication-related tasks within the workshop environment. This includes supporting the maintenance and repair of equipment and ensuring that all tasks are carried out efficiently and safely.
The role involves obtaining the necessary authorization as an “authorised workman” in line with Sappi’s lockout procedures. This ensures that the candidate can assist production personnel with equipment isolation processes where required, maintaining a high standard of safety at all times.
Compliance with legislation is a critical part of the role. The candidate must ensure the safe handling, identification, sorting, and disposal of waste in accordance with the correct waste streams. Maintaining environmental and safety standards is essential in this environment.

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following requirements:
A Grade 12 qualification with Mathematics and Science is required. This provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding technical tasks and safety procedures.
A Trade Test qualification will be considered advantageous, although it is not mandatory.
Candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license.
