Key Responsibilities For Electrical Artisan Assistant Vacancy

Electrical Support

• Assist qualified electricians with the installation, setup, and operation of temporary generators during load shedding and power outages
• Support cable routing, cable management, grounding, and safe electrical connections
• Ensure all installations are carried out in accordance with safety regulations and electrical compliance standards
• Prepare and organise tools, materials, and equipment required for electrical work
• Assist in troubleshooting basic electrical issues under supervision
• Help ensure that all electrical systems are functioning efficiently and safely

Site Build Assistance

• Participate in general site construction, setup, and maintenance activities
• Assist with the installation of temporary structures, electrical systems, and supporting infrastructure
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, assembling, and positioning equipment
• Support the team in maintaining clean, organised, and hazard-free work environments
• Assist with site preparation before installations and ensure proper cleanup after completion

Equipment Maintenance & Inspection

• Assist in conducting routine checks and inspections on generators, tools, and electrical equipment
• Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition before and after use
• Report any faults, damages, or safety risks to supervisors immediately
• Help maintain proper storage and handling of equipment to extend its lifespan
• Support preventative maintenance activities to minimise downtime and disruptions

Health & Safety Compliance

• Strictly adhere to all workplace health and safety regulations and procedures
• Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times when required
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, or incidents immediately
• Follow instructions and safety guidelines when working with electrical systems and heavy equipment
• Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and your team

Learning & Development

• Take initiative in learning about electrical systems, generator operations, and site processes
• Gain hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced electricians and technicians
• Participate in training sessions, workshops, and development programs when available
• Build practical skills that will support future career progression in electrical or technical roles
• Stay updated with basic electrical best practices and safety standards

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Trade Test, or related qualification will be advantageous

Experience

• Previous experience in site builds, construction, facilities, or electrical environments is preferred
• Entry-level candidates with a strong interest in electrical work and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply

• Basic understanding of electrical principles, including AC and DC systems
• Ability to use hand tools and basic electrical equipment

• Valid driver’s license and practical driving experience is required
