This senior leadership role is designed for a professional who can take full ownership of the enterprise applications landscape while driving innovation, operational excellence, and measurable business value through technology.
This position is ideal for candidates with extensive experience in SAP S/4HANA, enterprise systems, and data analytics, particularly within fast-moving consumer goods, agriculture, manufacturing, or logistics environments. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future of digital capabilities across the organisation and ensuring that technology becomes a key driver of efficiency, profitability, and strategic decision-making.

The IT Executive: Enterprise Applications holds overall accountability for the design, implementation, optimisation, and governance of the enterprise applications ecosystem. This includes SAP S/4HANA platforms, best-of-breed systems, data analytics environments, functional technologies, and cloud-based solutions.
The role requires strong collaboration with executive leadership and key business stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into scalable and effective IT solutions. The successful candidate will ensure that all application systems are aligned with business objectives and deliver measurable improvements in cost efficiency, operational control, profit margins, and decision-making speed.
In addition to driving transformation, the role is responsible for maintaining stable operations, enforcing robust governance frameworks, managing vendor performance, and building a clear applications roadmap that supports end-to-end business processes.
The IT Executive: Enterprise Applications will be responsible for defining and executing the overall enterprise applications strategy, including the development of a clear roadmap and architecture that supports business growth and operational excellence.
A key aspect of the role involves aligning IT initiatives with organisational goals, ensuring that systems and technologies directly contribute to improved performance across departments such as agriculture, logistics, finance, human resources, and production.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the entire applications ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration between systems and full accountability for value realisation. This includes identifying opportunities to digitise and optimise business processes while leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning to gain a competitive advantage.
The role also requires strong business partnering at an executive level, translating operational challenges and performance gaps into system-enabled solutions that enhance efficiency and decision-making.
Operational responsibilities include ensuring the stability and reliability of enterprise systems, leading incident management processes, and minimising downtime across critical platforms. The candidate will work closely with enterprise architecture and IT operations teams to ensure high availability and optimal system performance.
Another critical component of the role is the development and governance of data platforms that provide real-time insights, enabling faster and more informed business decisions. This includes ensuring strong data governance, master data management, and alignment with business intelligence requirements.
The IT Executive will also oversee application lifecycle management, including system upgrades, enhancements, and issue resolution, while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards, governance frameworks, and change control processes.
Vendor management is a key responsibility, requiring oversight of service providers, contract negotiations, service level agreements, and overall vendor performance. The role also involves managing IT budgets effectively, balancing innovation with cost discipline and ensuring that investments are prioritised based on business value.
In addition, the successful candidate will lead and develop a high-performing applications team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Candidates must demonstrate extensive expertise in SAP S/4HANA, including modules such as Finance (FI/CO), Sales and Distribution (SD), Production Planning (PP), Quality Management (QM), and Warehousing (WM/EWM). Strong understanding of system integration and cross-functional processes is essential.
Proven experience in application lifecycle management is required, along with the ability to manage complex enterprise systems across multiple platforms. Strong vendor and contract management skills are critical, as well as the ability to analyse complex data and solve business problems using technology-driven solutions.
The role also requires strong financial acumen, including budgeting and cost management, as well as the ability to optimise IT spend while driving innovation.
A minimum of a three-year degree in Information Technology, Business Management, or a related field is required for this position.
Candidates must have between 10 and 15 years of experience in enterprise applications or IT leadership roles, with at least five years spent in a senior management capacity. Experience in FMCG, agriculture, manufacturing, or logistics sectors is highly preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex, multi-system environments and delivering large-scale IT initiatives. Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA and its integration across business functions is essential.
Experience with cloud-based solutions, software-as-a-service platforms, API management, and solution architecture is also required. Additionally, candidates must have demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing external delivery partners.
The role requires a collaborative and business-focused leader who can build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. The successful candidate must be able to influence decision-making, challenge existing processes constructively, and drive high performance standards.
Strong leadership capabilities are essential, including the ability to coach, mentor, and develop talent within the applications team. The candidate must demonstrate high levels of accountability, discipline, and a commitment to delivering results.
