This learnership programme offers a valuable opportunity for motivated candidates to gain hands-on workplace experience combined with structured technical training. Participants will be exposed to real engineering operations while learning the practical and theoretical skills required to qualify as professional artisans.
The learnership will take place at the Rustenburg Process operations located in Rustenburg.

The Engineering Learnership Programme (18.2 – Unemployed) is designed to provide learners with a structured pathway to becoming skilled artisans in the engineering field.
Participants will receive both classroom-based training and practical workplace exposure, ensuring they gain the technical knowledge and real-world experience needed to succeed in industrial environments.
Participants selected for the programme will benefit from:
Structured off-the-job training focused on theoretical engineering knowledge
Workplace-based practical training within operational mining environments
Mentorship from experienced engineers and technicians
Exposure to industrial equipment and mechanical systems
Development of essential technical and safety skills
Upon successful completion of the programme, learners will obtain a nationally recognised Artisan qualification, which can open the door to long-term careers within the mining and engineering sectors.
The following learnership opportunities are currently available:
Mechanical Fitter Learnership (3 Positions)
Mechanical fitters play a vital role in maintaining and repairing the machinery and mechanical systems used in mining operations and processing plants.
During the learnership programme, participants will gain experience in:
Installing and maintaining mechanical equipment
Servicing and repairing industrial machinery
Fault finding and troubleshooting mechanical systems
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical diagrams
Working with mechanical tools and specialised engineering equipment
Maintaining strict safety and operational standards in industrial environments
Mechanical fitters are essential to ensuring that mining plants operate efficiently, safely, and reliably.
Applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements to be considered for the programme.
Grade 12 (Matric) with the following subjects:
Mathematics (Mathematics Literacy will not be accepted)
Physical Science
English
All subjects must be passed with a minimum of 40%.
Applicants may also qualify with N2 or higher, provided the following subjects are included:
Fitting Trade Theory or Mechanotechnology or Mechanotechnics
Engineering Drawings
Mathematics
Engineering Science
NCV Level 4 in the relevant trade
All subjects must be passed with a minimum of 40%

Certified copies of all relevant qualifications
A copy of a valid South African Identity Document
Proof of residence for applicants from host communities
Proof of residence must include a stamp from the relevant tribal authority or municipality.
