Programme Overview

The apprentice will be integrated into the plant’s maintenance team and exposed to daily engineering operations. The programme combines:

Role Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to support the maintenance and operational efficiency of the Lubricants Manufacturing Plant while gaining the required knowledge and competencies to qualify as an artisan or engineering professional.

Apprentices will actively participate in both learning and operational activities, ensuring they gain a well-rounded understanding of engineering practices in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities For Millwright Apprenticeship Programme 2026

Health, Safety, and Compliance (HSSEQ)

• Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Adhere strictly to all Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) standards
• Follow all site safety rules, procedures, and work instructions
• Immediately report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions to supervisors
• Comply with Management of Work (MoW) procedures when executing tasks

Practical Engineering Exposure

• Work alongside experienced maintenance technicians and engineers
• Assist with daily maintenance activities to support plant operations
• Participate in fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks
• Support efforts to improve plant availability and operational efficiency

Training and Development

• Attend all required theoretical training sessions
• Participate in practical learning activities provided by the training institution
• Complete all required learnership/apprenticeship modules
• Engage actively in both formative and summative assessments

Documentation and Administration

• Accurately complete:
  • Timesheets
  • Logbooks
  • Project work
  • Training documentation
• Ensure all records are updated and submitted on time
• Participate in assessments and evaluations as required

Work Execution and Procedures

• Read and understand all work permits, risk assessments, and method statements before starting tasks
• Follow standard operating procedures at all times
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently

Housekeeping and Equipment Care

• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained
• Support quality standards and production efficiency

Flexibility and Availability

• Be available for:
  • Overtime work
  • Weekend shifts
  • Standby duties when required

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following:

• Matric (Grade 12) with:
  • Mathematics
  • Physical Science
• OR N3/N4/N5/N6 qualification in:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Due to the nature of the role, candidates must:

• Be physically fit and capable of manual work
