The Electrical Assistant will respond to incidents reported via the Control and Helpdesk Administrator. The role includes performing electrical maintenance, conducting installations, fault finding, and ensuring all work adheres to safety regulations. You will operate under a Team Leader or Supervisor, and occasionally report to the Electrical Manager. The role also involves supporting ad hoc electrical projects.
Respond to electrical incidents reported via the Control & Helpdesk Administrator.
Handle call-outs independently or as part of a team.
Perform daily electrical checks.
Repair electrical faults or arrange for outsourcing when necessary.
Maintain electrical systems in buildings and related infrastructure.
Conduct fault finding and propose effective solutions.
Submit weekly checklists and reports to your supervisor.
Maintain tool register in the sub-store.
Follow checklist procedures and report any unsafe conditions.
Identify faults quickly and provide solutions to restore functionality.
Recognise unsafe electrical installations.
Read and monitor tenant meters.
Work strictly according to SABS 0142 safety standards.
Assist with various electrical projects as required by management.
Grade 10
Completed N1 & N2
Electrical Trade Theory
SABS 0142 and relevant electrical safety standards
Proficiency with power and hand tools (heavy current)
Electrical installations & maintenance
Experience with inspections on DBs, generators, UPS, transformers, motors
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities
Ability to work independently and within a team
Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills
Logical reasoning and problem-solving
High attention to detail
Good time management
Initiative and reliability
Trade Test Theory (must have been completed as a subject)
Valid Driver’s License (attach a copy with your application)
