SANParks Work Integrated Learnership Programme

South Africa’s tourism and hospitality industry continues to create valuable opportunities for young people looking to gain practical work experience while developing skills that are recognised across the sector. The Department of Tourism, in partnership with Harambee and SANParks, has opened applications for the Integrated Service Excellence Programme 2026. This 12-month programme is aimed at unemployed South African youth who are passionate about tourism, hospitality and customer service. Successful applicants will receive workplace experience at selected national parks while earning a monthly stipend.


About the Integrated Service Excellence Programme

The Integrated Service Excellence Programme is a collaborative initiative between the Department of TourismHarambee and South African National Parks (SANParks).

The programme has been developed to equip unemployed young South Africans with practical workplace experience, customer service skills and industry knowledge that can improve their employment prospects within the tourism, hospitality and travel sectors.

Successful participants will be employed on a 12-month contract while working within selected SANParks facilities.

The monthly stipend is based on a maximum of 23 working days per month.


Programme Locations

Successful applicants will be placed at one of the following national parks:

  • Kruger National Park
  • Marakele National Park

Applicants must reside within 30 kilometres of the participating sites, surrounding communities or recognised land claimant communities.

Minimum Requirements For SANParks Work Integrated Learnership Programme

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Be betweenย 18 and 35 yearsย old
  • Have aย Matric Certificate
  • Submit a certified copy of their South African ID
  • Provide valid proof of residence
  • Have a clear criminal record
  • Be passionate about tourism, hospitality and customer service
  • Be willing to work flexible hours
  • Be available to work weekends and public holidays when required

Applicants must also declare in their application letter whether they have previously participated in any Department of Tourism learnership or skills development programme.

  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copy of Matric Certificate
  • Proof of residence, such as:
    • Municipal account
    • Letter from a Tribal Authority
    • Other valid proof of residence
  • Application letter declaring previous participation in Department of Tourism programmes (if applicable)
